Veritas String Quartet
The Veritas String Quartet was formed in the summer of 2015 by musicians who assembled for the Saito Kinen Orchestra and shared the same vision. They debuted in Okinawa in December 2015 with great success and have since performed yearly in Okinawa, as well as in the 2017 OMF Chamber Concert and at Munetsugu Hall (Nagoya) and Spring Festival in Tokyo in 2019. Affiliated with orchestras around the world, the members have radiant individuality and have since continued to dazzle audiences with their brilliant, passionate performances.
Jun Iwasaki
Violin
Jun Iwasaki was appointed concertmaster of the Kansas City Symphony beginning with the 2022/23 season. A graduate of Cleveland Institute of Music’s Concertmaster Academy, he has been hailed for his dazzling technique and lyrical musicianship. Prior to joining KC Symphony, he was concertmaster of the Nashville Symphony 2011–22 and the Oregon Symphony 2007–11. In addition to teaching at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, he served as the artistic director of Portland Summer Ensembles, a workshop for young musicians focusing on chamber music.
Machiko Shimada
Violin
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and Hochschule für Musik Detmold, highest honors. Music Competition of Japan 2nd prize, Japan Mozart Competition 1st prize, Aichi Pref. Arts Encouragement Prize; placed in Premio Paganini and Intl. J.S. Bach Competition. CDs include J.S. Bach Solo Sonata & Partitas (Altus). Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra solo concertmaster, Mito Chamber Orchestra and Veritas String Quartet member. Part-time lecturer at Aichi University of the Arts and Kyoto Horikawa Sr. High School of Music. Plays a 1769 G.B. Guadagnini loaned by Yellow Angel.
Yukiko Ogura
Viola
Born in Nara. First taught violin by Miyoko Uda in the Suzuki Method. Studied with Kazuyo Kimura at Kyoto City University of Arts. After graduating, joined the Kobe City Chamber Orchestra. Upon leaving, switched to viola; studied with Mazumi Tanamura. Moved to the US in 2000; studied under Li-Kuo Chang and Yuko Mori at Roosevelt University Music Conservatory; joined Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2001. Moved to the UK in 2014; became principal viola at Philharmonia in 2016. Has been guest principal with English Chamber Orchestra, RSNO, BBC Symphony, and CSO.
Sumire Kudo
Cello
Native of Tokyo. Formerly of Avalon String Quartet, currently a member of the New York Philharmonic and Veritas String Quartet. Won 2nd prize at the 62nd Japan Music Competition. Completed the Soloist Diploma Course at Toho Gakuen College Music Dept. and then the Artist Diploma Course at Juilliard, where she was also engaged as assistant to the Juilliard Quartet. She has studied with Yoritoyo Inoue, Hakuro Mori, Harvey Shapiro, and the Juilliard Quartet and appeared in the Marlboro Music Festival, Music@Menlo, SummerFest La Jolla, etc.

Sébastian Jacot
Flute
Born 1987 in Geneva. Studied with J. Zoon at Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève. Won 1st prizes at the 2013 Kobe Intl. Flute Competition, 2014 C. Nielsen Intl. Competition, 2015 ARD Music Competition. Was assistant principal at the Hong Kong Phil. and 1st Solo Flute of Gewandhausorchester Leipzig; engaged as principal flute of the Berliner Philhamoniker from Nov 2022. Professor at the University of the Arts Bremen and member of Mito Chamber Orchestra. Has performed as a soloist with Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and many more.
