Every year, Nagano prefecture residents welcome the festival with a colorful parade through historic downtown Matsumoto, ending in a joint concert with festival conductors in the garden of Matsumoto's majestic samurai castle. Local elementary and middle school wind ensembles and other community musical groups, join forces for the event. The wind ensemble parade and joint concerts at Matsumoto Castle started in 1992 and are festival's annual event.

In cooperation with Nagano Asahi Television (ABN), the orchestra concert will be broadcast live on special sites in Matsumoto city and at other venues around Japan. Broadcasts will be on large screens with dynamic images and sound, enabling audiences to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the concert hall.

Saito Kinen Orchestra members, Seiji Ozawa Music Academy students, and opera singers perform in places such as hospitals, retirement homes and museums. “Demae” is the Japanese word for meal delivery -- these concerts are designed to deliver the joy of music to music lovers who are able to attend concerts.
