OMF Special Concert: SKO Brass Ensemble Japan Tour Announcement!

We are happy to announce that the Saito Kinen Orchestra Brass Ensemble will go on Japan Tour in 2017. The world top class brass and timpani & percussion musicians come together to perform in Tokyo, Matsumoto, Hiroshima and Mito!

The Brass Ensemble at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival (OMF) Chamber Concert in 2015 received great accolades for its majestic and glorious sound; the audience was captivated and insisted on multiple curtain calls with unceasing thunderous applause. Members are from the brass and timpani & percussion sections of the Saito Kinen Orchestra, which comprises top-tier musicians from around the world who are immensely trusted by Seiji Ozawa. The eager requests for a reprise by the audience that witnessed the passionate performance of the Chamber Concert in 2015 and the desire of members to perform have resulted in initiation of the Saito Kinen Orchestra Brass Ensemble as of January 2017. In pursuit of the ultimate in brass ensemble performance and desire to spread recognition of the OMF name throughout the country, the Brass Ensemble will burst out of summer in Matsumoto to hold concerts in various cities in Japan.

Message from Seiji Ozawa, OMF Director

Simply put, the members of this brass ensemble are amazing. They are my treasured Saito Kinen colleagues who gather at the Matsumoto festival every summer and are truly brilliant players.
Their first concert performance in Matsumoto in the summer of 2015 was a resounding success that served as a catalyst to this tour.
I am deeply delighted that their marvelous music will be delivered to audiences all around Japan and greatly look forward to this personally as well. I invite you to join us in listening to their music.

For more information, please see SKO Brass Ensemble Program page.
