Due to the forecasted rain, tomorrow's Welcome Street Live and the Screen Concert featuring the Aug. 16th recording of Orchestra Concert Program B, conducted by Nodoka Okisawa, at Matsumoto Castle Park have been cancelled. However, the Screen Concert at Agetsuchi Theater will take place as planned.

Special Exhibition "Seiji Ozawa - Days in Matsumoto" at Matsumoto City Museum of Art [Reposted: Aug. 20]

As part of the 2024OMF "Celebrating Seiji in Matsumoto” Events, a special exhibition, "Seiji Ozawa - Days in Matsumoto," will be held at the Matsumoto City Museum of Art. The exhibition will feature 67 photographs highlighting Seiji Ozawa's time in Matsumoto beyond his performances over the past 30 years. It will also display the piano that paved his way to a career in music, various certificates and trophies, and personal items he cherished, such as his beloved Boston Red Sox jacket.

Due to the renovation work of the "Air Water Arena Matsumoto (General Gymnasium)" located on the same premises as the "Kissei Bunka Hall" where the "Orchestra Concert" will be held, the number of parking spaces has been significantly reduced. We kindly ask for your cooperation in using public transportation.

Shuttle busses will be available for the Orchestra Concert Program A/B/C to and from Kissei Bunka Hall and Matsumoto Station.
Please note that the shuttle bus boarding point at Matsumoto Station has been changed from last year. Please check the details below.

The hotel faces the station square, and it takes about 1 minute on foot from the station exit.

Kissei Bunka Hall : Ticket can be purchased 1 hour prior to the performance or during intermission in the hall lobby. You may also purchase tickets nearby the bus stop after the concert if there are any remaining bus tickets.

Tomorrow, Aug.18 (Sun) at 10:00AM, Asahi Broadcasting Nagano will air a special program on Seiji Ozawa titled "Endless Applause Forever… Seiji Ozawa’s Legacy for the Future."
The program will feature Asahi Broadcasting Nagano’s exclusive archival footage, along with reflections on Seiji Ozawa's life and accomplishments through the words of those who knew him well. Be sure to tune in!

Conductor: Takuya Nemoto

Takuya Nemoto obtained an MMus in conducting from Tokyo University of the Arts. As a student, he was discovered by the late Hiroshi Wakasugi for his rare talent of grasping theatrical works in their original languages, such as English, German, French, Italian, Latin, Russian, and Czech. He has since supported performances year-round as music staff in the opera section of New National Theatre, Tokyo, and as chorus master, diction coach, lecturer on works, and more for key Japanese opera companies including Tokyo Nikikai, OMF, and Nissay Opera, making him an integral presence in the industry. He earned a diploma in basso continuo at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon. He plays the harpsichord in the duo Jugong Boys with a baroque cellist and others, and is a composer. He has composed two operas (Kagetora, 2018 and La veuve Aphrodissia [Aphrodissia, The Widow], 2021), the cantata RINSHISEN (2016), and other vocal pieces. http://nemototakuya.info/

Conductor: Toshiaki Murakami

Tokyo native Toshiaki Murakami studied conducting under Seiji Ozawa, Hideomi Kuroiwa, and Kazuyoshi Akiyama at the Toho Gakuen School of Music. While a student, he became assistant to Ozawa for the New Japan Philharmonic, SKO, and later for the Mito Chamber Orchestra and Wiener Staatsoper. In 1997, he moved to Germany and studied at Universität der Künste Berlin and Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien. He was affiliated with Landestheater Linz 2004 06 and Staatsoper Hannover from 2006, where he was Kapellmeister 2008-12 conducting operas and ballets. He was invited to work with Berliner Symphoniker and the Lithuanian National Symphony, etc. Returning to Japan in 2015, he has conducted at OMF, Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo City Philharmonic, Kanagawa Philharmonic, Osaka Symphony, Kyoto Symphony. This year, he launched an opera group "Tokyo Opera NEXT" and is working energetically to promote classical music and opera culture. He is also a chamber music and lied pianist and currently teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts and the Toho Gakuen College Music Department.
