Sep 1st Orchestra Concert with Peter and the Wolf Standing room tickets available!

We are happy to announce that Orchestra Concert with Peter and the Wolf standing room tickets will be available on the day of the performance. Due to the sell out of regular tickets, we make standing room available for limited numbers.

Numbers of Tickets: About 40

Notes:
* Some area are difficult to see the stage/screen/narrator.
* Children who are short height may have difficulty to see the performance.
* It is standing room ticket. Please refrain from sitting on the area nor bringing chairs.
* The concert will be 90 min long includes 20 min intermission.
* When the numbered tickets are sold out the window closes.
* One person is able to purchase up to 2 tickets at once.
* There is no refund or changing ticket due to viewing condition.

Levent Bakirci, the Baritone of the 2019OMF Opera Tchaikovsky "Eugene Onegin" scheduled for Aug 24 (Sat), due to health reasons has cancelled his appearance. He will be replaced by Takaoki Onishi.

Joint Performance Conductor and traffic regulation announcement

Every year since it’s beginning in 1992, the Nagano prefecture residents welcome the festival and its guests with a colorful parade going through historic downtown Matsumoto, which ends in a joint concert with festival conductor in the Honmaru Garden, a National treasure of Matsumoto Castle.
We would like to announce that this year's joint performance will be conducted by young and aspiring conductor Kensho Watanabe. He conducts "Concert for Children" on Aug 27, 28, and 29 as well. In total 47 groups (About 2300 people) will perform "Shinano no Kuni" and more.

Seiji Ozawa and Seiji Ozawa International Academy received bravos!

Seiji Ozawa International Academy Switzerland proudly presented String Quartet and Octet at the Harmony Hall. The academy was founded by Seiji Ozawa in 2005 to cultivate the talented young string musicians.
The concert was completed with Mendelssohn: Octet Op.20 and Beethoven : String Quartet No.16 Op.135, not only with the Academy members but also with Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy Okushiga e-members, and the lecturer of the academy / Saito Kinen Orchestra long-time cellist Mr. Sadao Harada.
The audience was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the director Seiji Ozawa, and his conducting Beethoven Op.135. Everyone of the audience held one's breath to absorb every single sound of Op.135. The energy and tension between Seiji, the musicians and audience created one unforgettable night. No doubt that warm heartfelt standing ovation of 600 audience lasted for a long time!

Welcome back! Director Seiji Ozawa returned to Matsumoto!

Director Seiji Ozawa returned to Matsumoto on the opening day of Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival. Maestro Ozawa spoke to the press passionately together with Mr. Akira Sugenoya -The mayor of Matsumoto City, and Mr. Tadashi Hori – The chairman of Saito Kinen Foundation. “Matsumoto has a very special place in my heart. I am very happy to be back here”, said Maestro Ozawa.
Tomorrow the festival holds Chamber Concert I with Seiji Ozawa International Academy Switzerland. They will perform Beethoven:String Quartet No.16 Op.135 that Maestro Ozawa prefers to conduct in recent years.
On the day tickets will be available for purchase from 9AM tomorrow morning at the The Harmony Hall (numbered tickets will be distributed).
