The beginnings of Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival Opera - Stravinsky: Opera《Oedipus Rex》Special Exhibition at Matsumoto City Museum of Art!
Opera performances have been taking place at Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto and Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival from 1992 as one of two pillars of the festival along with symphony orchestra concerts. This year the OMF is happy to announce the opening of the Special Exibition featuring the Beginnings of Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival Opera with a main focus on the first opera performance Stravinsky: Opera《Oedipus Rex》(Directed by Julie Taymor) held in 1992, the year the festival was established.
Along with the photo exhibition, the display of costumes designed by world-renowned designer Emi Wada, who made her debut as an opera costume designer with《Oedipus Rex》, is also exhibited. The screening of precious achival video program of《Oedipus Rex》(CAMI / NHK coproduction) which was broadcast in 24 countries during 1992, is also held during the exhibition.
